- Holmes likely to be limited in camp
Santonio Holmes, still rehabbing his surgically repaired foot, will be on a limited program throughout the spring and summer, meaning he could miss part of training camp. The objective, according to Rex Ryan, is to make sure the veteran wide receiver is ready for the season opener.
“The main thing is, I just hope he’s ready for opening day,” Ryan told reporters Tuesday at the league meetings in Phoenix. “That’s going to be the goal. … I’ll lean on [trainer] John Mellody and have all the confidence in the world that he’ll get him right.
- Rex: Jets not ‘actively’ shopping Revis
Rex Ryan, speaking Tuesday morning at the AFC coaches’ breakfast at the NFL meetings in Phoenix, told reporters the Jets aren’t actively trying to trade CB Darrelle Revis.
“I know for a fact that we’re not actively trying to trade Darrelle Revis,” Ryan said. “But if somebody calls, you listen.”
Ryan insisted that any trade talk right now is “speculation,” claiming it’s not a foregone conclusion that Revis will be dealt. But he added, “I’m not naive.
- The Future Of Joe McKnight
Unlike when a certain backup quarterback was traded to the Jets last off-season, there wasn’t a huge press conference for former Raider running back Mike Goodson. But the skill-set Goodson brings could spell the end for Joe McKnight. I’ve always been a pretty big defender of McKnight. I think the talent he brings and the [...]

- Reaction: Barnes will help pass rush
Quick thoughts on the Jets’ signing of former Chargers OLB Antwan Barnes, who landed a three-year, $4 million contract:
1. FILLS A NEED: The Jets have gaping holes at outside linebacker. They cut Calvin Pace in a cap-related move and they’re not planning to re-sign Bryan Thomas, leaving Garrett McIntyre and Ricky Sapp. Get the picture? Barnes could compete for a starting job, but he’s best suited to a situational role as a pass rusher. He’s done that his entire career.
- Jets Sign Antwan Barnes
Jet fans have been pleading with their favorite team to add a true pass rusher to the roster for years, now they finally got one in Antwan Barnes. After signing Antonio Garay and Willie Colon over the weekend, new GM John Idzik once again went bargain shopping with the addition of the veteran outside linebacker.
- Jets re-sign Purdum, long snapper
The Jets filled a hole in their roster by re-signing long snapper Tanner Purdum, the team announced. Purdum signed a two-year contract, according to his agent, Rob Roche.
Purdum has been a steady long snapper since 2010. He was a non-tendered restricted free agent, meaning the Jets opted not to place the low tender ($1.32 million) on him with the hope of re-signing him at a lower price. Which is exactly what happened.
The Jets have another experienced long snapper on the roster, Travis Tripuka.
- Jets Sign OLB Barnes & LS Purdum
The Jets have addressed one of their biggest offseason needs by signing former San Diego Chargers outside linebacker Antwan Barnes: Jets signed OLB Antwan Barnes, formerly of the Chargers. 28-year-old Barnes is a situational defender and special teamer, but he has 14 sacks over the past two seasons and gives the Jets much-needed juice as [...]
