- Three-point stance: Jets vs. Patriots
The lead in the AFC East will be up for grabs in Week 7 as the Jets and Patriots renew a fierce rivalry. While all four teams are deadlocked at 3-3, only the Jets (2-0) or the Patriots (1-0) can remain unbeaten in the division after this weekend.
The Jets are coming off a breakout performance by the run game, which led the NFL in attempts, yards and touchdowns (three, tied with Washington) in Week 6. The 127 rushing yards after first contact were more than the total rushing yards of 18 teams on the weekend.
- Rex mum on injured running backs
FLORHAM PARK, N.J. — The Jets could be strapped for running backs when the team heads to Foxborough, Mass., for Sunday’s showdown with Patriots. Bilal Powell, who dislocated his right shoulder last Sunday, was not present at Thursday’s practice, and Joe McKnight (high ankle sprain) worked off to the side.
Jets coach Rex Ryan was asked if he had an idea if either would be available Sunday, but he wouldn’t reveal anything in the cloak-and-dagger days before a game against a division rival.

FLORHAM PARK, N.J. — The Jets’ defense took a big hit with the loss of Darrelle Revis, but Antonio Cromartie still loves the chemisty, especially in the secondary. Cromartie spoke candidly Wednesday, saying the current secondary is a closer unit than a year ago.
“I don’t think we had that much trust in each other, because we were flipping so much in and out — Jim Leonhard, Brodney Pool, Eric Smith,” Cromartie said, referring to the 2011 safety troika.

- Tebow returning to New England
FLORHAM PARK, N.J. — Tim Tebow’s last trip to New England didn’t end very well.
His former team, the Broncos, fell 45-10 to the Patriots in the AFC divisional playoffs last January and the quarterback played through torn cartilage in his rib cage, a bruised lung and fluid buildup. Not a day he’ll want to cherish.
“Losing. Wishing we had another shot,” Tebow said of his recollections of that game. “Not too many good memories.”
Tebow returns to New England in a much different capacity on Sunday as he and the Jets look to stay atop the AFC East.
- Jets Promote LB Dowtin From Practice Squad
The Jets have called up rookie linebacker Marcus Dowtin from the practice squad to fill the vacant roster spot left by the waiving of fullback John Connor. Signed as an undrafted free agent on 5/4 Dowtin was released from the team (8/31) during final cuts signing later with the Jets practice squad. Dowtin played three [...]
- Terminator Waived
After struggling to make the team in 2012, the Jets have decided to end the experiment and waive fullback John “The Terminator” Conner. He had made a name for himself in the 2010 edition of Hard Knocks. His knee and hamstring injuries also played a part as the team couldn’t afford to keep him on [...]
