- New York Jets Week 7 – Game Plan Thoughts For New England
A few thoughts on how the New York Jets could game plan for the New England Patriots
- Rex: Belichick is better than me
FLORHAM PARK, N.J. — The Patriots have distinct advantage over the Jets in at least one area, according to Rex Ryan.
“If it was just between (Bill) Belichick and me, he’s going to win that battle,” Ryan said Wednesday.
It might be an obvious statement, considering Belichick has won three Super Bowls as a head coach and Ryan still is looking for his first. But Ryan likes to play the underdog card when he faces the genius to the north.
- Injury report: Mangold, Po’uha sit out
FLORHAM PARK, N.J. — Jets center Nick Mangold and defensive tackle Sione Po’uha were not practicing during the portion of practice open to the media Wednesday.
Mangold played in Sunday’s game so this is likely a maintenance day. Po’uha has missed the last two games with his back problems.
Here’s the rest of the practice report, according to head coach Rex Ryan.
Will not practice: Mangold (ankle); Po’uha (back); defensive tackle Kenrick Ellis (knee); receiver Clyde Gates (shoulder); safety Eric Smith (knee); running back Bilal Powell (shoulder); running back Joe McKnight (ankle).
- Is Chandler Jones the one who got away?
FLORHAM PARK, N.J. — Entering the draft, the Jets were high on both Quinton Coples and Chandler Jones.
With the 16th pick, they had the option to choose between the defensive ends, and Gang Green ultimately selected Coples, the 6-6, 290-pound force from North Carolina. Five picks later, the Patriots traded up to choose Jones, an athletic but raw talent from Syracuse.
So far, the Patriots have gotten the better of the deal.
While Coples and Jones play in different defensive systems, Jones has been perhaps the best defensive rookie this season as he has 27 tackles, three forced fumbles and five sacks.

- Fantasy Football Waiver Wire
We are now 6 weeks in and this week it looks like we may have 2 or 3 possible impact players. There are 6 teams off this week so you may only need a one week fill in. Last week we had a few good ones in Green, Cobb, Wright, and Chris Givens. Let’s get [...]

- Scouting report: Early look at the Pats
Two words that always increase the heart rate of every Jets fan — Patriots week. Let’s take a quick look at the Belichicks:
1. The big news about the Patriots is they’re 3-3, coming off a brutal road loss to the Seahawks. The last time they didn’t have a winning record after six games was 2003, when they were also 3-3.
2. As you know, every team in the AFC East is 3-3. This is the first time in 25 years that every team in a division enters a week with the same record in Week 6 or later, according to the Elias Sports Bureau.
- Does QB tryout affect Tebow?
An interesting name came across the NFL transactions wire Tuesday — free-agent QB Kevin O’Connell, who worked out for the Jets.
Once upon a time — September, 2009 — the Jets traded for O’Connell, in part, because they opened against the Patriots and they wanted to pick his brain for Patriots intel. He was drafted by the Patriots and spent the previous year on their roster. It just so happens the Jets face their AFC East rival this week, but he’s too far removed from that situation to be of any help.

- The Drill
If I were the head coach of the New York Jets, I would write one word as large as I could for everybody to see when they arrived for work this week. Consistency! What characteristics does a consistent football team exhibit? Trust, purpose, drive, passion, selflessness. If this football team could get behind these principles [...]
- Belichick raves about Tebow
Tim Tebow is a “valuable” player for the Jets. So says Patriots coach Bill Belichick.
“Yeah, of course he’s a valuable guy,” Belichick said Tuesday on a conference call with the Boston media. “There’s no doubt about that.”
Belichick is familiar with Tebow. He scouted him before the 2010 draft, he beat him last season in the playoffs and his current offensive coordinator, Josh McDaniels, drafted Tebow in the first round of the ’10 draft for the Broncos.

The Jets CB discusses the meaning and process behind his tattoos. Ink Master airs every Tuesday at 10/9c only on Spike.
- Jets play a complete game, get back to .500
Having Tebow in the backfield provides defenses with two viable runners as well as two possible QBs all at the same time. To beat the Pats, the Jets will have to get creative, how can they get more creative than this?
