- Coples to start this week?
FLORHAM PARK, N.J. — First-round pick Quinton Coples, whose playing time has decreased the past two weeks, will have an expanded role Sunday, according to Rex Ryan.
“I believe you’re going to see him a lot more,” said Ryan, not offering any specifics.
Look for the Jets to use more four-man lines against the power-running 49ers, meaning Coples or perhaps DT Kenrick Ellis could get a starting assignment.
After drafting Coples 16th overall, the Jets anointed him a starter, but he hasn’t been starting.
- Three-point stance: San Francisco 49ers
The New York Jets enter Week 4 as the only team in the NFL with two divisional wins as they gear up to host the San Francisco 49ers. With CB Darrelle Revis injured for the remainder of the season, Gang Green will have to improvise on defense to replace the NFL leader in passes defended since 2007.

The 49ers suffered a surprising defeat in Minnesota last week. On defense, San Francisco allowed a Total QBR of 89.

- Sanchez to Holmes, just like it used to be
FLORHAM PARK, N.J. — Things change quickly in the NFL. A week ago, the big story was the lack of chemistry between Mark Sanchez and Santonio Holmes, whose on-field communication in the Pittsburgh game was awful. It was akin to two people talking through tin cans, connected by a string. Now, after a big game in Miami, everything supposedly is cool between them.
“There were some connections in that game that reminded me of a couple of years ago,” Sanchez said Wednesday.
