- All-22 Breakdown Jets-Steelers: Defense
After watching the Steelers-Broncos game I expected the Steelers to come out with quick short passes and they started their first two drives off with receiver screens. On the first drive the screen to Brown went for an easy eight, on the next play Bart Scott made a great read bursting through the hole and [...]
- All-22 Jets-Steelers Breakdown: Offense
Things started off looking really promising for the Jets offense, but a further review of the game shows that the Steelers defense was out of sink more than the Jets came out hot. This isn’t to discredit how the Jets came out, they played it perfectly on that opening drive, but there was a huge [...]

- Practice report: No Mo
FLORHAM PARK, N.J. — Muhammad Wilkerson hasn’t shown up on the injury report all week, but he wasn’t present at the Jets’ Friday practice in preparation for this weekend’s game in Miami. Coach Rex Ryan will address the media later this afternoon and should be able to shed some light on the reason Wilkerson is missing.
All other notable players were present and accounted for. Darrelle Revis (concussion) appeared to practice fully a day after being cleared for contact and is expected to play Sunday.

Santonio Holmes has not had a 100-yard game since Nov. 21 of 2010 – 27 consecutive games – but the wide receiver expects the Jets passing attack to have a big game against the ‘Phins, telling ESPN New York, ”With our skills and our speed, we should really take advantage of those guys.” Lost in the babbling, [...]

- QBs coach: Tebow a learning experience
Media-shy QBs coach Matt Cavanaugh emerged from his man-Cav (get it?) late Thursday for a session with reporters. He might have the most fascinating (and toughest) job among all the QB coaches in the league, considering his pupils are Mark Sanchez and Tim Tebow. Some highlights from the interview:
On whether he was concerned with how Sanchez would handle the acquisition of Tebow:
Cavanaugh: “I did not, deep down, I did not. On the surface, I think wherever Tim showed up, it was going to be a stir, because of his persona.

- W2W4: Jets at Dolphins
FLORHAM PARK, N.J. — The Jets, trying to rebound from last week’s offensive stinker, are on the road again, this time facing the Dolphins (1-1). The Jets are the better team, but this is a weird and storied rivalry. In fact, they’ve dropped five of the past seven meetings, including the season-ending loss last New Year’s Day that highlighted the team’s chemistry problems.
Kickoff is 1 p.m. Sunday at Sun Life Stadium. Here’s what to watch for:

- Darrelle Revis: I’m Playing
New York Jets corner back has been cleared for contact and practiced with the team on Thursday. This is great news for the Jets but terrible news for the Miami Dolphins trio of Ryan Tannehill, Brian Hartline and Davone Bess. Revis talked to the media on Thursday and added: On how confident he is he [...]
- Defense feels heat in Miami
FLORHAM PARK, N.J. — Between the hurry-up offense and the heat, Jets defensive coordinator Mike Pettine has been advising his players to stay hydrated.
“Our guys, we’ve played down there before, but I don’t think it’s been this early and it hasn’t been at 1:00,” Pettine said. “I think the forecast is sort of a typical Miami day, 85 (degrees) and a chance of thunderstorms, but we’ll be prepared.”
Even cornerback Darrelle Revis knows to prepare for the heat — which he will likely have to do, now that he’s been cleared for contact by team and independent physicians after sustaining a mild concussion against the Bills in Week 1.
- Timmons fined $21,000 for Sanchez hit
FLORHAM PARK, N.J. — Steelers LB Lawrence Timmons was fined $21,000 by the NFL for his helmet-to-helmet hit on QB Mark Sanchez last Sunday in Pittsburgh.
Timmons revealed the fine on a Pittsburgh-area radio show. And he wasn’t happy.
“What can you do? I was just playing ball,” Timmons told Joe Starkey of 93.7 The Fan, via ProFootballTalk.com. “I lowered my target like you’re supposed to do. I can’t help it if he slides or falls.

- McKnight: Let’s win one for Tony
FLORHAM PARK, N.J. — Offensive coordinator Tony Sparano hasn’t made any personal comments about the Dolphins this week in meetings, according to players. But they know the story, how Sparano was fired by the Dolphins with three games remaining last season. RB Joe McKnight said they’d like to win Sunday for Sparano.
“We want to go out and win for him, just so he can get his last laugh,” McKnight said Thursday. “The last laugh always laughs loudest.

- Hard-hitting Landry: ‘I won’t slow down’
FLORHAM PARK, N.J. — It was only the preseason, but that’s when LaRon Landry let the NFL know what kind of safety he would be for the Jets. Landry took out Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz, brought him to a cold stop. It was a hard hit, no question, but there was no call at the time or NFL foul upon review.
“I love the fact he’s got a reputation as a huge hitter because, he’s clean,” Jets coach Rex Ryan said.
That could be in the eye of the beholder.
- Injury Report: Revis in, Keller limited
FLORHAM PARK, N.J. — CB Darrelle Revis was cleared for contact and practiced for the first time on Thursday after sustaining a mild concussion in the first game of the season. Tight end Dustin Keller also practiced in a limited capacity after a hamstring injury kept him out of the Steelers game.
DL Quinton Coples popped onto the injury report with an illness but practiced fully, and LaRon Landry did not practice because of his heel.
Out: G Dennis Landolt (knee).
