  • How to replace Revis, Keller and Thomas
No surprises here, but Rex Ryan announced Friday that CB Darrelle Revis (concussion), TE Dustin Keller (hamstring) and OLB Bryan Thomas (hamstring) won’t play Sunday against the Steelers. Examining the impact of each injury:

REVIS: You can’t replace the best cornerback in football, but you can adjust your game plan. Kyle Wilson will start for Revis, opposite Antonio Cromartie. Ellis Lankster becomes the No. 3 corner, with Isaiah Trufant also a possibility.

FLORHAM PARK, N.J. — Darrelle Revis was cleared for non-contact practice, but he wasn’t cleared to play. The Jets cornerback will not be with the team in Pittsburgh this week, although he was able to practice with his team in a limited capacity. See the full story here.

TE Dustin Keller (hamstring) and LB Bryan Thomas (hamstring) will also remain behind.

Florham Park, N.J.- For those of you who have never heard of the All-22 tape, or those that have heard of it but still aren’t sure exactly what it is, allow me explain and briefly shill for the NFL game rewind subscription. • Westhoff: Jets won’t make Oakland mistake
FLORHAM PARK, N.J. — The Raiders’ special teams nightmare on Monday won’t happen to the Jets, according to Mike Westhoff.

The Raiders were stuck in a tough scenario when long snapper Jon Condo left the game in the second quarter with a head injury.

The Oakland backup, Travis Goethel, is a middle linebacker by trade.

And he struggled — to put it mildly — making snaps.

Goethel bounced his first snap and the Chargers were able to get to Raiders punter Shane Lechler.

  • Darrelle Revis Ruled Out Against Steelers
Jets “All-Pro” cornerback Darrelle Revis will be out for the matchup with the Pittsburgh Steelers due to a “mild” concussion suffered in his last game against the Buffalo Bills.  While there had been optimism that Revis would be cleared to play under the NFL’s head injury protocol it is now being reported the concussion will [...]
  • Darrelle Revis Out For Sunday’s Game
Florham Park, N.J.- After the way the Jets stomped the Bills, Jets fans were feeling pretty confident about their chances to go into Pittsburgh and come away with a win to start the season 2-0. It’s certainly still possible the Jets could pull out a victory but you’d have to think their chances decrease dramatically [...]
  • The Jets have Ruled Out Darrelle Revis for the Steelers Game
Rex Ryan announced Friday afternoon that Darrelle Revis has been ruled out for the game in Pittsburgh. I stated earlier that this was probably the only play as Revis still looked he was in a fog by…

  • Revis joins team for non-contact drills
FLORHAM PARK, N.J. — It’s hard to know how much to read into the limited look the media got at practice, but Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis was in pads and on the practice field during team drills Friday morning.

Revis put on a helmet and joined the rest of the defensive backs during individual drills. He also took part in early team drills open to the media, but none of the drills involved contact.

After being diagnosed with a mild concussion on Monday, the Jets’ top defender has not practiced with the team, instead riding a stationary bike during drills.

  • Jets Bring Back TE Epps
The Jets have announced that they have brought back TE Dedrick Epps who they had cut a couple of weeks ago off of the Bears practice squad onto the active roster. It’s likely that he was brought back in order to replace Dustin Keller who currently has a hamstring injury which might prevent him from [...]
  • Revis Needs to Miss the Pittsburgh Game to Clear the Fog
It is Friday and Darrelle Revis is STILL NOT cleared for contact after suffering a concussion against the Bills in week 1. Revis admits that it felt like he was in a “fog” all week.

  • Sparano: Wildcat doesn’t hurt Mark’s flow
FLORHAM PARK, N.J. — There’s been plenty of debate surrounding the Jets’ Wildcat package since the team acquired Tim Tebow in late March.

One of the most recent critiques goes a little something like this: if Mark Sanchez is throwing the ball well, inserting Tim Tebow in a Wildcat package — or in at quarterback in any formation — will just throw off his rhythm.

Offensive coordinator Tony Sparano doesn’t buy that theory one bit.

In fact, he sees an added benefit with putting Tebow behind center; it gives him a chance to talk to Sanchez in the middle of a possession without burning a timeout.

  • W2W4: Jets at Steelers

FLORHAM PARK, N.J. — Maybe we should call them the 48ers. Who could’ve imagined the Jets hanging 48 points on the Bills in the opener?

That seems like a distant memory now because the Jets have a formidable task in front of them — the Steelers (0-1), who don’t want to become the first Pittsburgh team since 2002 to start 0-2. A loss would set off panic along the shores of the Three Rivers, where the spoiled locals are accustomed to football excellence.

  • Darrelle Revis Talks About His Concussion
Darrelle Revis spoke to the media on Thursday about the concussion that he suffered in the week one game against the Buffalo Bills. On how he is feeling… I feel a little bit better. I’m just taking it one day at a time. I think that’s (the trainers’) approach, and go from there. On what [...]

  • Injury report: Setback for Keller
FLORHAM PARK, N.J. — The official practice report from Thursday:

Injury-report analysis: TE Dustin Keller suffered a setback. He experienced soreness after practicing on a limited basis Wednesday and was held out Thursday. This is a concern … Still no CB Darrelle Revis (concussion), whose chances of playing Sunday appear to be diminishing … S LaRon Landry (heel) was held out as a precautionary, part of his weekly routine … CB Isaiah Trufant (ankle) also suffered an apparent setback after a full practice Wednesday.
