- New York Jets Week 2 – Film Room Thoughts On Steelers
After breaking down week 1 film, thoughts on the Jets/Steelers match-up
- Three-point stance: Pittsburgh Steelers
The Jets quickly erased any preseason concerns and set a franchise record for points scored in a season opener against the Bills on Sunday. Mark Sanchez posted a Total QBR of 97.1, a career-best for one game, and Gang Green improved to 6-0 all-time when he passes for at least three touchdowns.
While the Pittsburgh Steelers may have looked rusty against Peyton Manning and the Broncos (94.4 Total QBR-allowed, 30th in Week 1), the return of Ryan Clark and possibly James Harrison could create a tougher test for the Jets.
- Coach Ryan Expects To Know Status Of Darrelle Revis By Saturday
After suffering a “mild’ concussion last Sunday against the Bills cornerback Darrelle Revis’ status for the Jets upcoming game against the Pittsburgh Steelers has remained unclear. Revis was permitted to resume “physical activities”, which is an early step in the NFL head injury protocol, such as running or biking but has not been cleared for [...]
- Revis still not cleared for practice
FLORHAM PARK, N.J. — It’s starting to sound like the Jets might be without Darrelle Revis on Sunday in Pittsburgh.
The star cornerback, who suffered a concussion in Sunday’s win over the Bills, still hadn’t been cleared for live contact as of midday Thursday, meaning he won’t practice for the second consecutive day. On Wednesday, Revis was approved for physical activity, but all that amounts to is lifting weights, running and riding an exercise bike.
- REVIS UPDATE: There will be no game-time decision
FLORHAM PARK, N.J. – The most recent update on Darrelle Revis’ status concerning his concussion and playing this Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers is the same as the last update.
Yesterday, Rex Ryan said his All-Pro cornerback was cleared for physical activity — lifting weights and running — but no contact.
Today, Ryan’s update was no different [...]

- Woodley: We won’t be 0-2
FLORHAM PARK, N.J. — If the Jets are looking for some bulletin-board fodder — sorry, guys, no clown cartoons this week — they might be able to make something of this quote from Steelers LB LaMarr Woodley.
On Wednesday, Woodley was reminded by a reporter that the Steelers (0-1) haven’t started 0-2 since 2002.
“And we won’t be 0-2,” he said, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. He added, “Every week the mindset is to go out there and win a football game, and not start the season off bad.
- Holmes tones down act
FLORHAM PARK, N.J. — One week after creating a stir by saying QB Mark Sanchez was “rattled” by the Tim Tebow trade, Santonio Holmes was on his best behavior Wednesday as he met the media for his weekly news conference.
Holmes, probably coached up by the Jets’ PR department, was Mr. PC.
Any special emotions about returning to Pittsburgh to face his old team? Nope, just focusing on the game.
How’d it feel to see the offense play so well in the opener?
- Injury report: CB Revis, WR Kerley out
FLORHAM PARK, N.J. — The official injury report from Wednesday for Jets-Steelers.
Analysis: Reporters saw Darrelle Revis riding his stationary bike during the open portion of practice today. He has been cleared to ride the bike and lift weights but did not practice. The feeling in the locker room is that Revis will play on Sunday. If he can’t go, Kyle Wilson will fill in at outside corner. We didn’t get a chance to catch up with Jeremy Kerley, but Stephen Hill said his calf is fine and Eric Smith said he’s progressing from his hip and knee injuries.
- Will Tebow get to pass in Pittsburgh?
FLORHAM PARK, N.J. — The last time he played Pittsburgh, Tim Tebow had the game of his life.
He threw for 316 yards and ran for 50 more, accounting for three touchdowns in the Broncos’ overtime upset of the Steelers.
His last TD, of course, was the most memorable.
Tebow hit Demaryius Thomas for an electrifying 80-yard touchdown on the opening play of overtime to stun the Steelers.
So the question heading into Sunday’s road game against the Steelers is this: Will the Jets let Tebow throw?
