Did Antonio Cromartie throw Teammate Dee Milliner under the Bus?

Dee Milliner was addressing the media Tuesday when teammate and fellow cornerback, Antonio Cromartie grabbed the SNY mic and slipped into his media persona.

Cromartie asked two questions:  How does he feel, and does he feel he’s on the bubble to make the team.  At first glance this seems like he threw Dee under the bus.   Was he sending him a message to step up his game?  Was he telling the young often injured player that this is year three and you better improve or that B word is about to follow you around.  B=Bust.

Ok, so here is my take.  I don’t believe Antonio was trying to throw Dee under the bus nor was he trying to send him a message.   I personally think Cro was trying to be funny and have a little fun with the younger CB.  Cro earlier this year was busting on fellow CB Dexter McDougle razzing him on his hair calling him “Cinnamon Badger.”

Cro loves to talk.  He’s been in the news a lot offering his opinion on just about anything.   Richard Sherman, yup, he was  targeted and today had a response for Cromartie.

Only five days ago, Cromartie attented the NFL’s Broadcast Bootcamp, where players get training to see if their career path may take them to the broadcast booth after football.

I think Cromartie wanted to show off his new skills.   I think it can be taken as a negative thing because most likely Cro will be taking Dee’s starting position along with Revis.   The Jets also acquired Buster Skrine so Milliner is going to be buried on the depth chart and for a 2nd year 1st round who is wet to prove his worth, that puts him in a bad spot.

I read a quote from Cromartie earlier this month and you can tell that he is a supporter of Milliner.   When I take the smile, the fact that Cro went to broadcasting bootcamp and his support quote, I’ve come to the conclusion that there was no ill intent here.  Did Antonio Cromartie throw Dee Milliner under the bus, NO, but I can see how it can be taken that way out of context without knowing Cro went to bootcamp for broadcasting.

Am I wrong?  Let me know.

Dee Milliner on If He’s a Bust

“Let ‘em talk. Let ‘em label me as they want to label me. I didn’t get to this point by being a bust. I’m just going to go out and do what I can do and let the people talk what they’re going to talk.”

Cromartie Talks up Milliner

“It’s not a point of saying, ‘He’s a first-round bust,’ because I don’t believe that,” Cromartie told NJ.com. “He shows a lot of potential in what he can do, when he’s healthy.”

Cromartie believes there’s a role for Milliner on the Jets.

“Dee can play,” Cromartie said. “That’s something that he has to figure out himself, and come in into the system, and say, ‘I’m ready to go, I’m healthy, I’m going to be ready to go when training camp gets here, and I need to show everyone that I can come in and play with the best of them.’ ”
