My Thoughts on the 2014 Jets Schedule

My Thoughts on the 2014 Jets Schedule

I first saw the new 2014 schedule an hour before the official release through a leak.  I wasn’t sure if that was the true New York Jets schedule, but apparently it was.  It was fun to see Jets Twitter react with all types of reaction across the spectrum.

Here are my thoughts on this years’ schedule.

I’m not sure why Jets fans are shocked or surprised by who we play.  We knew our opponents for a while, but the order is interesting.  I wouldn’t call it impossible, but rather challenging and very important that we are firing on our cylinders to start the season.

Rapid Reaction

We can’t afford to figure it out and warm up.  If we are not focused weeks 2-7, we can be out of contention early.

  • We open the season with the Raiders at home.  This will mark the 5th year in a row that we open in our own stadium.
  • We do not play a division rival until week 7 against the Patriots on Thursday night in their stadium.
  • We play San Diego week 5 across country, come home to play the Broncos and on a short week play the Patriots game in Foxboro.  That is a little rough patch.
  • The NFL still loves to see the Jets in prime time.  We have 3 games (2 MNF and 1 Thursday Night).  I’m glad we play the MNF game against the Bears in our house.
  • We always seem to play the Dolphins at their home towards the end of the season.
  • As a season ticket holder, I’m happy to see a ton of home games in good weather in the beginning of the season.
