Here are some random quick hits for June 29th with my quick thoughts on each topic.
My run in with a Giants fan today.
Jim Kelly may be right.
Television shows LOVE the New York Jets
Hit 1: Why Can’t All Giants Fans be Like this Guy?
On my way to dropping my Kids off today I ran into a Giants fan at the gas pumps who spied my Jets decal on my SUV. Normally 5 minutes to gas up and get food into my kids turned into 20 minutes and me thinking why can’t all Giants fans be like this guy. I go into detail on my podcast, give it a listen.
Erik Manassy is the creator of this blog, is a social media advocate and a die hard Jets fan.
Hit 2: Bill’s Jim Kelly Says “I gotta be honest: I don’t know what (the New York Jets) really were thinking,”
“I gotta be honest: I don’t know what (the New York Jets) really were thinking,” Kelly said. “Mark Sanchez is a quarterback who’s going to be sitting there every single game if he plays bad, and No. 1, you know Jets fans — they’re going to start booing.”
Kelly said he would have been looking over his shoulder in Buffalo if the Bills had tried the same tactic.
“I think (there’s) a lot of pressure on Sanchez to not only start off hot, but continue game after game after game playing steady,” Kelly said. “If he doesn’t, you know you’re going to hear the boo birds. People want Tim Tebow in there.”
Everyone has an opinion these days, but Kelly may be Right.
….and you know what? He’s right. Sanchez must be perfect but it’s up to the Jets brass to ignore the Tebow chants in the stands. They are going to get a ton of heat and pressure to make the change, and it’s up to the Jets to stay the course.
I say there is MORE PRESSURE on the Jets brass to not have a Knee Jerk Reaction! If the Jets start off 0-4, fine, but anything else, STAY THE COURSE! Sanchez is your better option in my opinion.
Hit 3: The Jets get Mentioned a LOT on shows, don’t they?
News anchor Will McAvoy (Jeff Daniels), a panelist, is then asked if he has anything to add. He keeps his head down, cracks a joke, and the conversation moves on.
Then a college-aged kid in the audience asks him whether he considers himself a Democrat, Republican or Independent. He quips that he’s a New York Jets fan.
A couple questions later, he says something else that applies to most people — that he’s voted for candidates from both major parties.
The rubber hits the road after the next question though. You may have seen it in promos, where a bright eyed and bushy tailed college aged young woman asks the three people on the stage why they think “America is the greatest country in the world.” The woman on the left says “diversity and opportunity,” and the guy on the right says “freedom, and freedom… so lets keep it that way”.
McAvoy tries to skate again, answering by, again, saying “the New York Jets,” but the moderator presses him for a “personal moment.” Via WNYC.com
Jets Twit TV - Watch the Brees Clip Here
So we are not 5 minutes into the first show of a new series and BOOM, the New York Jets baby. BTW, this show had me glued. It was interesting to see how fast and furious a news room could be.
Then there was David Letterman last night with Guest Drew Brees. David told Drew that if things didn’t work out, he could get him a job with the Jets.
Letterman: “Sounds to me like you’re fed up, and I can get you a deal with the Jets.” Brees: “I think they have enough QBs at this point.”

As much as we rag on the media for their coverage of the New York Jets, when there is an event OTAs, Jets fans want access to every practice. The next best thing was to read the players' tweets.
