What I think …. Jets Quick Hits 6/6 – Revis’ Purple Book; Osi Spewing; Making fun
Posted by Erik Manassy on Jun 6, 2012 in Quick Hits | 0 comments
Here are some random quick hits for June 6th with my quick thoughts on each topic.
Darrelle Revis has a special book that he uses to make himself special, and it’s purple.
Osi loves to talk about the Jets.
This comic was pretty funny.
Hit 1: Revis and his Purple Notebook
The purple spiral notebook is a diary of sorts for all of Darrelle Revis’ secrets. It’s where the All-Pro Jets cornerback keeps his own set of scouting reports, notes on everything from quarterback tendencies to receiver reads to body language.
Tuesday nights are Revis’ time to get an “identity” for an opposing offense. Within that designated hour, he scribbles myriad observations, and his preparation only intensifies as the week goes on. Each season brings a new notebook. And this year, it’s a purple one. Yes, purple.
“What? What’s wrong with purple?” he asked, laughing in between bites of his spaghetti.
Revis is great. You can probably say he’s one of the best in the league right now, I do.
I think he’s the top CB in the league hands down SO with all his hold out talk, do you get aggravated or do you read stories like this and say, yeah he’s worth it!?

Hit 2: Always Talking about the Jets, huh Giants?
Now that he knows he’s going to remain with the Giants for at least one more season, Osi Umenyiora has no problem speaking out on the team that shares MetLife Stadium, saying the Giants “do things a little differently’’ than the Jets.
“We go out there on the football field and play,” Umenyiora said last night on NFL Network’s “Total Access.” “The Jets, they’re a good football team themselves, but they have a lot of things going on that a lot of people are interested in, and they’re more interested in that than us going out there and actually winning the Super Bowl.
“So, there’s nothing wrong with that. Much respect to the New York Jets. Hopefully, things will keep on going that way.” Via the NYPost
Hit 3: Poking Fun and That’s OK!
Earlier today, we posted a blank cartoon and readers offered their captions. Our favorite was by commenter Left Coast Packman. Please check your ESPN.com profile message center for an email.Via ESPN Fandom
So I found this section on the ESPN web site called “Fandom” and have been a fan of the segment. The cartoonist will post a new blank entry in the morning and then in the afternoon will select the best quote and fill it in. So it was a matter of time that they did a “JETS” theme and I’m sure this won’t be the only time.
I like the jokes on the Jets. It means the team is relevant if everyone is talking about them. (See Osi above)
By the way, in the comic, Mark won’t be overthrowing the receivers. Just saying.
