Revis Tells Fan on Twitter to “SHUT UP”

Revis Tells Fan on Twitter to “SHUT UP”

There is some activity concerning the Revis crew on Twitter.  Darrelle told a fan to shutup, John Geiger’s twitter account was renamed, and Revis’ Agents join the twittersphere.

On Twitter, when a fan called Revis out and used an obscenity to tell him the fans will be done with him if he holds out again this year, Revis’s answer was two words long: “shut up.”

Revis also told Gary Myers of the New York Daily News that he’s not concerned about any backlash because he doesn’t think the backlash could get any worse than it got during training camp in 2010, when Revis stood his ground, refused to report, and ultimately was rewarded with a new four-year contract. via -ProFootballTalk

cjcall12 @Revis24 If u hold out man im done with u and so are the rest of the Jets fans show up to camp and work or eat shit 6/4/12 2:24 PM
Revis24 @cjcall12 shut up. 6/4/12 4:08 PM

So is this a smart strategy by Revis?  He was recorded by a beat writer as being “Testy” when asked about his contract and now responding to fans who are being nasty to Darrelle on twitter.  Maybe Darrelle should lay low again.  If you recall when this talk heated up the last time, Darrelle and his manager John Geiger, @geigergeiger, disappeared off twitter until all this was resolved.

I know it must be frustrating to get this hate tweets, but Darrelle, when you tweet back, especially telling a fan to SHUT UP, you are adding fuel to the fire.

I went to search for John Geiger’s reaction to this and found that his account no longer exists!

Turns out that his account was renamed from @geigergeiger to @JohnGeiger_

JohnGeiger_ “The more you make, the more they hate, the more they fake, thats the way the game go” 6/5/12 9:04 PM

In other news, the guys responsible for orchestrating the new contract entered the twitter-sphere as well.

Revis24 Hey guys my agents to twitter, so give them a warm welcome @schwartzfeinsod 6/4/12 5:43 PM

Twitter Reaction – Tweets To Revis

AJ_Mazza @Revis24 what’s the point of holding out in year 3 of a 4 yr. contract? Don’t you guys usually do it in the last year? 6/6/12 10:34 AM

NYJET_Prime SInce 2007 @Revis24 has made about $60-$68 mill with the Jets. Cut that down the middle and over the 5 years it’s about a $13 mill average 6/6/12 10:12 AM

newjakecity1 To fellow #Jets fans:I don’t want @Revis24 to hold out anymore than you,but show sme class.Acting like a twitter thug makes us all look bad. 6/6/12 10:05 AM
KMart_LI During last holdout, a man in PHI airport shouted @ Revis’ bus. manager: “Ur buddy is a stingy #%#$. & Ur both #%#$ 4 ruining the game.” 6/6/12 10:01 AM
Cnimbley Good for Revis. As a fan you can think whatever you want about whether a player should/shouldn’t hold out, but you can’t tell him what to do 6/6/12 10:08 AM

This whole thing started off from an article written by Cimini. Before Cimini speculated on why he “thinks” Revis will hold out there was none of this talk. I can see why Revis would be pissed. He gets asked about holding out every freaking day and he has to give the same answer everyday. Id get annoyed to

Yes…. BUT all he had to keep saying was he was “cool with his contract” and this is a non-story.  Why did he change his tune?

Revis’s contract was top heavy from the very beginning, it’s stupid for any of them to “act” as if this situation was never going to happen. But in my opinion, give the man what he wants. Think about it, Sanchez UNDERPLAYS his second year performance and gets a boost, while Revis once again makes game-winning plays and get’s nothing.
