The Jets drafted Kenrick Ellis 18 months ago knowing this was on his wrap sheet. Ellis still pleads his innocence, but by taking plea bargain, he serves his time, misses some camp and finally puts this behind him. If he didn’t, and decided to fight it and lost, he gets deported and his career is over.

Defensive lineman Kenrick Ellis will begin a 45-day jail sentence on June 15 after pleading guilty to misdemeanor assault and battery stemming from his malicious wounding case that took place two years ago, a Hampton (Va.) Circuit Court official told the Daily News on Monday. He also received two years of probation.
The official sentence was 179 days with 89 days suspended.
According to Virginia law, the remaining 90 days will be cut in half with good behavior. Ellis will be able to participate in Jets workouts and mini-camp (June 12-14). He will miss only a few days of training camp practices that are set to start on July 27. – Read More
