For the love of all things Green & White… “Hard Knocks” 2012

The following is a guest post from Alyssa Lang, a die-hard Jets fan. @Alyssa_Lang_34

I mean you can’t say you didn’t see this coming.

The Jets have been in the spotlight for the past few months- negative publicity, positive publicity, and absolutely everything in between. I swear my hair is turning grey… and I’m a college student.

It only makes sense that HBO would more than consider asking the Jets to be the focus of this year’s hit show “Hard Knocks”, something that Gary Myers of the New York Daily News reported that Jets owner Woody Johnson “did not rule out.”

Please, no………. for the love of all things green and white.

Of course, if Gang Green agrees to be on the show, I’ll watch it. My dad and the rest of my family will call DIRECTV and re-order HBO so they can watch it. But I really hope that it doesn’t come to that.

People are already doubting the intentions of the team, ESPECIALLY after the Tebow ordeal. Even Joe Namath stated that he thinks it might have simply been a publicity stunt. No matter what is going on in the front office, even if their intentions were solely football related; I’m getting tired of people hating- constantly – on my team. It wears on even the toughest skin of a New York Jet fan.

Answer me this- what is being on Hard Knocks going to do for us? What is the benefit? You want publicity? Last time I checked, we have plenty of that. I don’t want any more. It would greatly benefit HBO- I have no doubt that the ratings would be ridiculous if the show features the Jets. That’s not what I’m concerned about though.

Everyone is well aware of the drama in the locker-room; another great reason for NOT appearing on the show. Until the guys can smooth out everything, and really have time to come together as a team- I don’t want a show broadcasting any issues, or potential issues that may or may not take place. I don’t want a show, whose main goal is to be up close and personal with a team, adding pressure to this locker room. Not this season, that’s for sure. Because let’s face it, that’s going to be what the producers look for. Because that’s what viewers want to see. Because that makes for good ratings.

So Woody Johnson, I now speak to you (if you ever see this…) — PLEASE think about the stability of your team, and what really matters right now. Oh and also, if you agree to be featured on this years Hard Knocks; you’re going to need to buy me a box of hair-dye.
