According to The Daily News, the New York Jets have officially reached out to Peyton Manning’s agents.
The Daily News has learned that the Jets have inquired about Peyton Manning’s interest in them. It’s unknown at this point whether Manning, who will turn 36 later this month, would be want to play for Gang Green.
Manning officially became a free agent on Wednesday afternoon after the Colts held a press conference announcing that they were parting ways with the four-time NFL MVP after 14 years. The Jets are among several suitors for Manning, arguably the most coveted free agent in league history. The Cardinals, Dolphins, Seahawks and Redskins are also believed to be in the mix for the future Hall of Famer. The Broncos also are expected to inquire.
Here we go! We knew the Jets were interested and as I said in this morning’s podcast, it is the job of Tannenbaum and the personal to kick the tires and try to make this team better. Ultimately it will be Woody Johnson’s decision, but I’m not going to lie. Watching Peyton Manning carry himself in that professional manner yesterday at the Colts press conference made me realize that this guy really loves football.
If he is truly healthy, I mean the Peyton of old, you can’t help but get a little bit of excited. I’m not flip flopping (YET), but the needle moved slightly away from Sanchez and towards Manning.
