The Jets not chosen to play in the UK in 2012; my thoughts

Rumors were floating on twitter yesterday that the NFL was going to send the New York Jets and the St. Louis Rams to London England next year for a regular scheduled game.  The first thing that floated in my brain was, oh man, we complain about the long trip to the west coast, I know this can’t be an advantage for the Jets.  Well the rumores turned on to be partly true as the Rams and an AFC east team were correct, but it’s the Patriots NOT the Jets.

I know many fans of the Jets from the UK, many of whom I know on twitter, will be disappointed but I’m kind of relieved.  First it won’t be a home game (one less game I get to see as a season ticket holder).

JennyVrentas NFL announces Rams will host regular-season game in London for next 3 yrs. They host Pats in 2012, so Jets won’t play in UK in near future. 1/20/12 9:11 AM

    So many reasons to be upset about this.

    1. We have to go to St. Louis, which will be a genuine home game for the Rams;
    2. We don’t get to see the Jets here in the UK;
    3. The Patriots get a huge competitive advantage by only having 7 true road games;
    4. I don’t get to go to London for a weekend in October, or if I do I need to watch the boring Patriots.

    Bleh.

      I agree with you Iain its bad enough being a UK Jets fan  and getting excited about seeing your hero`s play in the UK. Then finding out it wont be the Jets in 2012. Then feeling gutted when you find out the Pats have the UK slot, OMG any other team would have been ok even the Giants……..Sob Sob.
      I may never get to see my team play after almost 30 years of being a Jets fan.

    This really doesn’t matter to me. It would’ve been cool for Gang Green to play in Europe, but as you pointed out, they have issues playing on the West Coast. Jets fans in London should really be the only ones disappointed. Other than that, it really shouldn’t matter.
