Jets’ Matt Mulligan Loses Cool on Sideline

An angry Matthew Mulligan barked some heated words at someone on the Jets’ sideline at the start of the third quarter in Sunday’s win over the Redskins.

It happened moments after Mulligan came off the field after committing a false-start penalty on the first play of the second half. It was his sixth penalty of the season, clearly a source of frustration for him and the team.

CBS cameras caught Mulligan snapping at someone, perhaps RB coach Anthony Lynn, who was standing a few feet in front of him. RB Joe McKnight also was in the area. Mulligan never really threatened to confront the person — at least not that we saw on TV — but it prompted fellow TE Dustin Keller to step in front of Mulligan, acting as a shield. OT Vladimir Ducasse also held Mulligan’s arm, just in case.

It wasn’t the first time that a Mulligan penalty caused some backlash. In the first game against the Bills, a penalty on Mulligan nullified a long run by Shonn Greene, prompting RG Brandon Moore to give him an earful. Mulligan also heard it from O.C. Brian Schottenheimer.

Mulligan couldn’t be reached after the game to comment.

I can tell you that the fan’s are getting frustrated with Matt as well.  Being a season ticket holder, I hear chatter around me when he commits a penalty of fans showing disgust.  It’s been building up and I’m not surprised that it’s starting to frustrate Matt as well causing him to blow up at someone on the sideline.

On twitter, let’s just say I can’t repeat any of the tweets of fans thoughts on the TE and his play.

It seems like a lot of Jets players have been angry lately.  Is this a theme of frustration, despite the recent winning.  Mark Sanchez blew up on the sideline during the Buffalo Bills game last Sunday, and Mo Wilkerson responded angrily to a “hater” on twitter last night and now Mulligan.

I’m speculating, but is Rex losing his locker room?

This is going to be interesting! Now remember they traded D Mason for some issues. Even though they said for another reason. I hope Rex isn’t losing this locker room.

Sounds like he may be losing it a little, doesn’t it?
