Is Jim Leonhard in Hot Water with Jets fans for Calling them Out?

Jim Leonhard @jimleonhard was pissed when he heard boos directed towards his QB during player introductions.  I’ve made my opinion known in this post, so I won’t rehash it here but now Twitter is speaking out about Jim calling the fans out.

Jim Leonhard left no secret that he wasn’t happy with boos directed at Mark Sanchez before the Jets’ 28-24 win over the Bills on Sunday. The veteran safety, one of the most fan-friendly players on Rex Ryan’s team, admitted on Tuesday that he took exception to some fans’ expressing frustration with the quarterback during introductions.

“I think we have a great crowd,” Leonhard told WFAN . “I think probably for one of the first times I was kind of disappointed. Our starting quarterback gets booed in introductions. SLps As players, you kind of turn to each other and say, ‘You know what? I guess we’re in this one today by ourselves. We can’t rely on the crowd to give us that energy because it’s already started off on a bad note.’ So I will say that this past weekend was really the first time that I’ve been kind of frustrated going into a game, which is bad.”

“We have passionate fans, as passionate as anybody and they understand the game of football,” Leonhard added. “So, I give them the benefit of the doubt on a lot of things, but SLps there’s a lot of situations where we control. (If) we start (off) a little hotter, you know that crowd is going to get riled up.”

I like the fact that Jim is sticking up for his QB.

I am gonna go out on a limb and say that 75%-85% of all Jets fans are also Mets fans so they are programmed to boo. That being said, the only players that should be booed during pregame intros, is the opposing team. This team has been to 2 straight AFC Championship games with Sanchez and WILL win a Super Bowl with him too.

I stand with Jim on this. Were Steelers fans booing Big Ben in week 1, when he threw 3 INTs against the Ravens? Were Saints fans booing Brees against the Bucs when he threw 3 INTs? I proudly wear my Jets colors when we are 2-14, and when we are 10-6, and expect real fans to stand by their team as well.
