Tendering Leon for a 2nd rounder scares the bejeezus out of me. Tannenbaum made his mark by inserting a poison pill into Curtis Martin’s offer so that the Pats couldn’t match. My biggest fear is that someone takes a page form that playbook and signs Leon to a reasonable offer sheet, but it contains a ridiculous clause that would prevent the Jets from matching and Karma comes back to bite Tanny on the ass here. I so hope that doesn’t happen and you are right, e-man.
YES, and here is the poison pill clause I heard. If Leon plays four games in NJ he is guaranteed 10M. The Jets won’t match that and he’s gone!
It’s a win / win if the Jets are ok with moving on without him. First, we get a second round, wow, that’s high. I’m not saying Leon is not worth it, I’m saying coming off that injury, it’s a gamble.
Second, Leon finally gets paid the contract he was looking for… Jet’s fans will be upset, but hey that’s the biz. IF NE gets him though, that will KILL US!
if we lose leon, i might die.
I have a feeling that we won’t. TJ is more of a risk at this point, but who knows!
im not terribly worried about losing TJ. He’s getting a little old and we have Shonn Greene to replace him. We dont have a Leon replacement, and he’s extremely explosive. I think he and Greene would make an extremely dangerous 1-2. I dont actually have a clue why we didnt pay da man last year. now we’re at it again. the guy can play, he’s proved that he’s nasty and adds a tremendous threat to our already ridonkulous run game. smh. i love u tanny, but you’re f*ckin up on the leon situation.
I would love to have all three back, but I know that wishful thinking. I’m worried about injuries that’s it. Shonn seems to get hurt easy because of his style of play. He will go right at you…. Losing him in the AFC Championship sealed our doom.
If not for Leon’s totally unreasonable agent, Alvin Keels, Leon would ‘ve been locked up long-term already.
