Nick Mangold on Ankle “It’s Pretty Numb”

Nick Mangold injured his ankle in the New York Jets route of the Jacksonville Jaguars. How serious is the injury? Well we won’t know how long the Center may be out, but if you are like me, it scares the HELL out of you. In an already depleted offensive line, Rob Turner would have backed up Nick and would have done a great job but he’s out with his own injury. Thanks Vlad.
Per Jenny Vrentas - Jets center Nick Mangold will have an MRI tomorrow after leaving today’s game against the Jaguars with an ankle injury, coach Rex Ryan confirmed after the game. Mangold “likely” suffered a high ankle sprain, according to a person with knowledge of his injury status. That person requested anonymity because the team has not made any further comments on his injury.
The X-Rays Mangold took at the stadium were negative. Ryan said he is “not sure” how long his starter will be out. Mangold has started every game in his six-year career.
“We got it iced down pretty well, so it’s pretty numb,” Mangold said. “Thought we could give it a go, but it didn’t want to agree with me on that. So now we’re just playing it safe.”
| nickmangold Thanks for all the well wishes. Goal is to get back as soon as possible. Thanks again! 9/18/11 7:50 PM |
| DWAZ73 Amazing how significant Robert Turner’s injury continues to be in terms of its effect. Much less concern if he’s healthy & Mangold can’t go. 9/19/11 12:57 AM |
