There is one new face at Jets camp that is making a name for himself. Rookie Jeremy Kerley is turning some heads and creating a buzz. I hear fans who attend training camp say this guy doesn’t drop a ball. My co-host Joe on our Jets Twit Podcast show describes it in this episode. Well it appears that Westhoff found his boy for punt returns. With Jim Leonhard returning from a broken leg injury it looks like his days of returning are over and Kerley appears to be the man.
New York Jets coach Rex Ryan called him “special” in the first week of practice. One of the first words out of quarterback Mark Sanchez’s mouth when asked about him was “baller.” Even hard-to-impress special teams coordinator Mike Westhoff is sold.

“I think he’ll be our punt returner right off the bat from what I’m seeing,” Westhoff said, “certainly have the best shot at it. And then also maybe our kickoff returner too. He could do both.”
